In commemoration of the simultaneous publication of photo books by two of Japan’s leading photographers, Osamu Kanemura and Sakiko Nomura, a joint photo exhibition of Kanemura’s unpublished work and Nomura’s new work will be held at “BOOKMARC”!
……………………………………………………………………………………………
A collection of photographs by two of Japan’s leading photographers, “Osamu Kanemura/TOMBSTONE PILE DRIVER”, published by Libro Arte as Petite de Publication at the book store “BOOKMARC” by New York fashion brand “Marc Jacobs”. A photo exhibition will be held to commemorate the publication of “Sakiko Nomura / Tsukiyo”. Osamu Kanemura’s previously unpublished work, and Sakiko Nomura’s new work.
Osamu Kanemura has consistently used silver halide film and has been photographing city blocks in monochrome for over 20 years. Active since the 90’s. His exhibition at the Nikon Salon, in which he intentionally left unevenness and damage as is, was pinned up on the wall, and received the 2014 Ina Nobuo Award in recognition of its high criticality towards contemporary issues. Recently, the style has changed, such as digital works, video works, and handmade photo books. This exhibition dares to go back to the starting point, and presents silver halide works and video works that cut out fragments of the flowing city of Tokyo that Kanemura had pursued in the 1990s. And since 1991, Sakiko Nomura has been studying under photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and has continued to publish mainly male nudes. The film was shot in a closed room, creating a tension-filled work that continues to captivate viewers. In 2019, he held a solo exhibition at an art museum in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, and in 2022, he held a solo exhibition “Umi” at his hometown of Shimonoseki City Museum of Art. In this exhibition, we will present a number of unique works, such as the flowers placed in front of the grave, the model Kenta who has been photographing since childhood, and scenes where
uncontrollable emotions intersect. increase.
An opening reception and autograph session will be held from 19:00 on Friday, June 2nd. We are waiting for you to visit us.

An unpublished work by Osamu Kanemura.
Photographer Osamu Kanemura has consistently used silver halide film and has been photographing city blocks in monochrome for over 20 years.
Since the 1990s, his works have been highly acclaimed both at home and abroad. The exhibition at the Nikon Salon, where the acetic acid smell, underexposure, blown out highlights, uneven development, insufficient washing, scratches on the screen, dust, and uneven roll prints were pinned up on the wall was contemporary. In 2014, he was awarded the Ina Nobuo Award for his high criticality of his problem awareness.
Recently, his style has changed, such as digital works, video works, and handmade photo books. A group of silver halide works cut out of fragments of Osamu Kanemura’s unpublished photo book is finally published!
