A person who doesn’t get lost can’t be trusted, says the author. People who are unwavering and unaffected by the opinions of others are often admired, but humans, being social beings, are hesitant, confused, and have no choice but to make choices while listening to what others say. This is because being a living thing and getting lost is the most advanced and beautiful function of the human brain. Based on brain science, this book uncovers the mechanisms and functions of the human brain, and explores the desire for approval and anxiety, excessive justice and bashing of others, and the pitfalls of positive thinking that we unconsciously hold onto. It vividly reveals the deep darkness and the pathology of modern society that it brings. In addition, he objectively and straightforwardly talks about the “troublesome” author’s own half-life, such as the division with the surroundings and the difficulty of living that he felt since childhood.

Do you feel lighthearted when you say, “It’s your brain that makes life difficult,” or do you feel like you’ve been confronted with a truth you don’t want to see? I wish I could.
