“We” are troublesome – a shocking work that unravels human society from his own half-life and knowledge of brain science. Nobuko Nakano’s latest book “Brain Darkness” coming soon!
Brain scientist Nobuko Nakano will publish “Brain Darkness” from Shinchosha on February 1, a shocking work that examines the back side of modern society through her half-life and brain science for five years.
A person who doesn’t get lost can’t be trusted, says the author. People who are unwavering and unaffected by the opinions of others are often admired, but humans, being social beings, are hesitant, confused, and have no choice but to make choices while listening to what others say. This is because being a living thing and getting lost is the most advanced and beautiful function of the human brain. Based on brain science, this book uncovers the mechanisms and functions of the human brain, and explores the desire for approval and anxiety, excessive justice and bashing of others, and the pitfalls of positive thinking that we unconsciously hold onto. It vividly reveals the deep darkness and the pathology of modern society that it brings. In addition, he objectively and straightforwardly talks about the “troublesome” author’s own half-life, such as the division with the surroundings and the difficulty of living that he felt since childhood.
Do you feel lighthearted when you say, “It’s your brain that makes life difficult,” or do you feel like you’ve been confronted with a truth you don’t want to see? I wish I could.
Wanting to be known as a steady person, wanting to be righteous, wanting to be recognized by others… In a social group, everyone cannot be free from the desire for approval. Being swept away by unconscious emotions, disliking ambiguous and anxious states, and seeking reassurance by denouncing others by placing oneself in justice—while looking at the structural pathology of the modern era, Using scientific knowledge as a medium, we vividly unravel the deep darkness of the human brain. Condensing the trajectory of thoughts over five years of “Novel Shincho” serialization into one volume. [Image 3
