Photographer Masao Yamamoto pursues the mystery of nature and continues to challenge the ultimate beauty created by humans and nature. His delicate and poetic photographic works and installations are highly acclaimed internationally, and his works, which focus on concise and skillful compositions and the beauty hidden in everyday life, have been likened to haiku poems that can create infinite interpretations with minimal elements. It may happen. His works have been exhibited in Europe and America, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and the European Museum of Photography, and are housed in famous institutions such as the National Gallery of Canada, Yale University Art Gallery, and Victoria and Albert Museum. In July of this year, the collection of works “Kurayami” was published by France’s iikki books as Yamamoto’s second collaboration with musician Teru Uchida. In this exhibition, the works published in “Kurayami” will be displayed together with the same collection and rare books by Yamamoto published in the past. In addition to gelatin silver prints produced using an analog process that utilizes unique toning techniques, we will also exhibit four glass wet plate works called the “collodion process,” which will be exhibited for the first time in Tokyo.
On “Kurayami – In Darkness, the Light”
One voice of the sho
The light that fell from heaven
Let’s place it in the dark.
Searching for the substance within the light painting…
The eternity of a priest’s prayer is like crawling on the earth. I will sow seeds in my tanda
